School bus crashes with students onboard in Traverse City area

School bus crashes in the morning while transporting students

The county sheriff’s office stated that they responded to the crash at about 7:50 am at the intersection of 18 Mile Road and 185th Ave. They discovered that the bus involved in the accident was from Pine River Area Schools, and students were being transported at the time. The initial reporting was that there was a single vehicle accident where the students were able to leave the bus and receive transportation to their school. However, Osceola County EMS reported to the high school to evaluate any students who complained of injuries or feeling ill after the collision. 

The incident happened in Burdell Township, which is south of Traverse City. A picture posted to social media showed the bus against some small trees near the side of the road. The local police are still investigating an exact cause of the crash.
