‘DWTS’ Tour Bus Involved in a Multi-Vehicle Accident Leaving One Person Dead
It was reported on People.com that a tour bus carrying cast and crew of the television show ‘Dancing with the Star,’ was involved in a bus accident. In total, there were 19 vehicles involved in the collision. The bus was headed to its live show in Iowa before the multi-vehicle crash occurred. While everyone on the bus survived, some only suffering minor injuries, one woman, Josephina Mae Buffington, 21, died in the midst of the accident. She was reportedly not wearing her seatbelt.
People.com also reported that Buffington was transported to the state medical examiner by Smith Funeral Home and four others suffered injuries, although it wasn’t clear just how serious those were. The crash was initiated when three vehicles were pulled off on the shoulder of I-80 when a semi-truck struck one of the vehicles. Between the semi-truck and the snow-covered roadways, the accident became a catastrophe in a matter of seconds.
Many fans, friends, and family of the cast and crew that were traveling on the bus sent out Tweets sending love and prayer to them all. Derek Hough, who is a professional dancer on the show, sent out a message to his girlfriend who was traveling on the bus at the time of the collision. He wrote, “I’m so thankful my love is safe. To my DWTS family. I love you all and I am so glad you are all safe after such a terrible accident. Be strong, be safe and I will see you very soon.”
Because of the unexpected tour bus accident, the live show the cast and crew were headed to perform in was canceled.
Inclement Weather Has Been Responsible for Causing Numerous Accidents as of Lately
Whether it is rain, snow, sleet, or sun, all types of weather can cause an accident to transpire. Rain, snow, and sleet all make for a slippery roadway while the sun blinds drivers and causes them to crash. So, one thing all drivers, including those who operate a bus, commercial truck, or passenger vehicle needs to do when the weather seems to be getting in their way is drive with extreme caution.
Although this bus accident transpired in Iowa, a bus collision can happen anywhere. Houston, like all other cities, experiences inclement weather that makes driving much more difficult. So, to further help prevent any more accidents from occurring, all drivers are encouraged to practice safe driving when out in weather that poses a hazard.
