Bus Crash Lawyers in Los Angeles Discuss Bus Accident in LA Involving Three Vehicles and a School Bus Carrying 30 students

It was recently reported that a Los Angeles Unified School District school bus was involved in an auto accident early in April. The bus was carrying approximately 30 students at the time when the minor collision occurred in the 6400 block of White Oak Avenue in Reseda just before 4:00 p.m. Although CBS Los Angeles reported that the accident was a minor one, there were three other vehicles that were involved.

According to the news source, three people were injured as a result of the collision and had to be transported to a local hospital for treatment. The name and ages of those who were involved have not yet been reported and the source wasn’t able to provide details on the age range of those who were traveling on the school bus. Another LAUSD school bus was dispatched to the scene to pick up the students who had been involved in the collision.

What are some innovative ideas being discussed that are geared toward making riding on a school bus safer?

With the continued number of car and bus collisions occurring in Los Angles and across the state of CA, perhaps school districts might look into modifying the current buses they have so that they are safer and more durable in the event of an accident.

The fact is, accidents have been an issue for years, claiming the lives of many individuals all of different ages. Because society wants to see a reduction in the number of fatal accidents, many entrepreneurs and business owners are developing ways to make traveling on the roadways safer. A trade show that took place last month revealed some innovative ways to help make children safer when riding on buses.

Easy Way Safety Services was one of the vendors present at the trade show and they displayed several types of bus seats, booster seats, and child safety restraint system that could be beneficial to any school district that depends on school buses to pick up and drop off children. HSM Transportation Solutions also demonstrated a new school bus seat that came equipped with an integrated harness for younger students. The harness could be neatly folded into the seat to accommodate routes that transported students who were older, according to School Transportation News.

Another invention that was presented by Safely Cross Stop Arms was for a longer stop arm for school buses. Danny Ringer, the inventor of the product, said he noticed that stop arms were difficult to see, especially when a driver was turning a corner which prompted him to create a longer stop arm that would be “maintenance-free” and would stick out four to six feet into the next lane. The stop arm also comes equipped with a solid row of LED lighting. Aside from bus drivers causing some of these accidents, many incidents also occur simply because drivers fail to stop when a school bus has it stop sign arm extended.
